🔧 Mechanic's Notes
- This card is two different cars: 2006–08 BPY (EA113, same family as B7 A4) and 2009–13 CCTA/CBFA (EA888 Gen 1). Oil filters, plugs and failure patterns all split on that line — read the engine code sticker before ordering anything.
- BPY cars inherit the FSI cam-follower problem: inspect the HPFP follower every 20–30k or risk taking out the cam and pump (ShopDAP).
- 2009+ EA888 Gen 1 cars carry the early timing-chain-tensioner risk — cold-start rattle means updated tensioner NOW, not at the next service (MotorReviewer, VW Tuning).
- The DQ250 DSG is a great box that punishes neglect: fluid AND filter every 40k miles. Harsh or erratic shifts on a car with no DSG-service history is your negotiating leverage — or your walk-away sign.
