🔧 Mechanic's Notes
- Same cooling-system rule as the E46: refresh the whole system (tank, pump, thermostat, hoses) on schedule — don't wait for the geyser.
- Front thrust-arm bushings cause the famous braking shimmy; that's where the first suspension money goes.
- VANOS seals and the DISA valve age out — lost midrange and rough idle, both cheap fixes.
- Instrument cluster pixels die; cosmetic, but factor it into the price.
