🔧 Mechanic's Notes
- AFM/DoD lifter collapse is THE L83 failure — misfire on cyl 1/4/6/7 with a tick means stop driving and diagnose before it eats the cam.
- 8L90 8-speed torque-converter shudder (2016+) is fixed by a full flush with Mobil 1 LV ATF HP per GM's TSB — try fluid before hardware.
- These engines use oil quietly via the AFM system; check the stick monthly even if the OLM says you're fine.
- A/C condensers crack young on K2XX trucks — warm A/C + green dye at the condenser is a pattern, not bad luck.
