🔧 Mechanic's Notes
- Same EA837 cooling weak points as the sedans, but heavier duty cycle: water pump weep and brittle plastic thermostat housing. Do pump + stat together before 100k — on a Q7 the labor overlap makes piecemeal repairs expensive (ShopDAP, FCP Euro).
- Pre-mid-2012 engines have the early PCV/oil-separator under the supercharger — oil consumption or a whistling idle on a 2011–12 usually starts there (ShopDAP).
- The 0C8 gearbox takes G 055 540 A2 — NOT the G 060 162 A2 used in most other Audi ZF 8-speeds of this era. Audi's own chart draws the line; so should your fluid order.
- Wheel bolts are 160 Nm / 118 lb-ft on this truck. And the 4L still has hydraulic power steering — a low reservoir is a real leak, not a sensor quirk.
Field patterns from a working mechanic — diagnose your own car before buying parts.
