🔧 Mechanic's Notes
- Know your year: 2017–2019 4M is the supercharged CREC; from 2020 the '55 TFSI' badge means the turbocharged EA839 — different engine, different parts, different tune ecosystem. Everything on this card is for the supercharged truck (034/APR/CarBuzz).
- The CREC inherits the EA837 cooling homework — water pump and thermostat housing before ~100k, plus Audi's own 60k supercharger-belt replacement that most service histories miss (ShopDAP; Audi 2018 schedule).
- Plugs are a 60k / 6-year item and cheap insurance on a blown V6 hauling 5,000 lb — misfire codes under load on an original-plug 2017 are almost always this.
- Carbon buildup on the DI intake valves applies here like every TFSI — sluggish low-end and cold-idle roughness at 80k+ points to a walnut blast, not a new turbo... which this engine doesn't have anyway.
