🔧 Mechanic's Notes
- 2006–2007 E350s sit square in the M272 balance-shaft window (2004–2008 production). Persistent P0016–P0019 cam codes mean the worn sprocket — verify whether the job was already done before you buy or diagnose anything else.
- Intake manifold air flaps fail on these (P2004–P2006); broken linkage pieces can get pulled into the engine, so fix at the first code.
- Cam adjuster magnets weep oil into the harness connectors — the factory sacrificial pigtail is the proper fix. Look for oil in the plug at services.
- 'Auxiliary battery malfunction' on the dash is a W211 rite of passage — it's a small second battery, not your main one. Inexpensive and DIY-able.
Field patterns from a working mechanic — diagnose your own car before buying parts.
